Woman Fires Gun at Sleeping Man and Flees, Police Say

A 55-year-old Lower Milford woman, who police say was in an accident minutes after the alleged shooting, is charged with aggravated assault and other offenses.

A 55-year-old Lower Milford woman fired a handgun at a 61-year-old man who was sleeping on the floor of her living room, state police at Fogelsville said.

Patricia Lee Mitchell, of 6781 Vera Cruz Road South, also pointed the gun at the man at 3:05 a.m. on Saturday before fleeing in her car, police said.

About 11 minutes later, she was in an accident in the 2900 block of Churchview Road, according to another release from state police.

Mitchell was travelling south on Churchview Road in a Mercedes, when she didn't follow a left curve and went off the left side of the road, police said. The car struck a mailbox, then a tree. She was taken to Lehigh Valley Hospital for treatment of moderate injuries, police said.

Mitchell faces charges of aggravated assault, simple assault, recklessly endangering another person and harassment.

Bail has not been set.
