So. Lehigh Hires Second Grade Teacher

Due to a number of new enrollees at the second grade level, an additional second grade teacher has been hired by the Southern Lehigh School District.

The Southern Lehigh School Board announced at its most recent meeting that it had approved the hiring of another second grade teacher.

Board president Jeffrey Dimmig said the decision to hire the teacher was made in executive session at the meeting.

Dimmig said the teacher is needed due to an influx of students at the second grade level.

School district superintendent Leah Christman said the district has received 18 new second grade enrollees since April.

The recommendation to add a second grade teacher was made after it was noted that class sizes were "creeping up" as a result of the influx, she added.
