Alan Birk, 47, of Upper Saucon admits to 'problems' in relationship with son, counseling and probation for family described by prosecutor as 'oil and water.'
An Upper Saucon man will return home to serve out a yearlong probation after prosecutors agreed to time served and family counseling in the April 2012 stabbing of his son, whom police found with a kitchen steak knife sticking out of his chest. "[Upper Saucon police] officers are very familiar with this house," said Lehigh County Assistant District Attorney Steven Luksa in reference to suspect Alan Birk. "It's an oil and water mix between the parents and the children." According to Alan Birk, a fight broke out over son Matthew Birk disturbing the dogs. Jeremy Silvius pleaded to assault in the August 2012 attach that left two teen girls injured.
An 18-year-old Coopersburg man pleaded guilty Friday to assaulting two teenage sisters at The Promenade Shops in Upper Saucon Township in August, according to online court records. Jeremy Silvius was sentenced to timed served to 18 months and placed on immediate parole by Lehigh County Judge James Anthony, who also ordered Silvius to pay $2,354 in costs and restitution, the records say. A criminal complaint says police responded to a fight-in-progess call around 6:45pm Aug. 13, a Monday, and looked for a large man – about 6-feet-3 and 260 pounds – wearing a Darth Vader T-shirt. A Hellertown man who was wanted by Upper Saucon Township Police was arrested near his home Nov. 21, Hellertown Police announced Wednesday in a press release. Pedro Lu Freytes-Ferrer, of 338 Northampton St., was arrested after officers began to investigate a black Oldsmobile coupe that was wanted by Upper Saucon Township Police for an alleged road rage incident that had just occurred, police said. After the coupe was observed in the area of 338 Northampton shortly after 5pm, police said it began to move. Freytes-Ferrer was subsequently stopped in the 300 block of Main Street, where police say he was taken into custody for possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and driving under suspension. Lehigh County police departments collected 944.5 pounds of unused and expired medications during the fourth National Take Back Day drug collection event on Sept. 29, 2012. A press release from the district attorney's office said medications were collected at 16 sites in Lehigh County. The total collected in Lehigh County during the last five events is 3,268.5 pounds. In total, Upper Saucon, Lower Milford and Coopersburg collected 80 pounds of unused and expired drugs. Upper Saucon police collected the most pounds in Southern Lehigh at their site, a total of 40 pounds of medication. “The public has overwhelmingly responded to the collections,” said Lehigh County District Attorney James B. Erick Rosales Rojo, 20, of Allentown is charged with theft of mislaid property after finding an iPhone and refusing to turn it over unless he was paid.
An Allentown man is facing two charges after police say he refused to turn over an iPhone he found at the Rave Cinema in Center Valley without compensation. (Subscribe to our Breaking News Alerts, and like us on Facebook to get the news as it happens) According to a criminal complaint, a young woman accidentally left her iPhone at the Rave Cinema on Sept. 7. When she returned to retrieve it, the phone was no longer there. When the woman called her phone, a man, later identified as Erick Rosales Rojo, answered. The complaint goes on to say that the man refused to turn the phone over unless the woman paid him $40. He also requested the woman meet him in Allentown to retrieve the phone. Keith Eric Kaspern Jr., 32, and Ashley Ann Brooks, 25, are charged with possession of a controlled substance; a traffic stop for tinted windows leads to a drug bust.
Two Emmaus residents are charged with heroin possession after a traffic stop yielded four packets of the narcotic with the help of a K-9 dog. According to a criminal complaint, Keith Eric Kaspern Jr., 32, and Ashley Ann Brooks, 25, were driving on Interstate 78 when state police pulled their car over for a possible window tinting violation. While talking to driver Kaspern, police observed that he "appeared to have bloodshot and glassy eyes" as well as an odor they believed to be that of marijuana. Police also noticed that the car had several "odor-masking agents," including air fresheners and laundry detergent, and contained several cell phones. from someone who 'knows' who the girls are. NO they were not 'with this guy'.....apparently his 'girlfriend' didn't like them for some reason. They were from out of town and they didn't come 'looking for trouble'......girlfriend spotted them and 'sicced' boyfriend on them.
