It's is nice that Upper Saucon Police post this kind of information. It'd be really nice if Emmaus Police would do the same. I know for a fact that cars and homes have been burglarized, but it is not listed anywhere on the Borough website or the Patch. How is the community supposed to be proactive against crime if we don't know what's going on?   more ›

Slight Uptick in Upper Saucon Crime Over Last Year

Burglars target Upper Saucon homes, mainly during daylight hours

Recent burglaries in Upper Saucon have prompted residents to wonder if a crime wave was headed to the township. Not so, says township police Chief Robert Coyle. "Compared to last year, we have almost the exact same amount of burglaries."  In 2011, Upper Saucon had nine burglaries from Jan. 1 to March 1. This year as of March 4, Upper Saucon has reported 11 burglaries. They include:  DATE     LOCATION   TIME OF OCCURRENCE                 1/3/12     TAYLOR DRIVE   UNKNOWN   1/11/12     LANARK ROAD   Daytime   1/14/12     TAYLOR DROVE   Daytime   1/24/12     SAUCON DRIVE   Daytime   2/7/12     ABERDENEN STREET Daytime   2/7/12     OLD BETHLEHEM PIKE Daytime   2/13/12     SAUCON DRIVE   Daytime   2/24/12     SAUCON DRIVE   Daytime   2/26/12…

agree 100%.. but the township tries to hide the crime, so new prspective residents don't get "sppoked". The want to portray Upper Saucon as a "crime free" area.. I believe that is why it is so hard to get the facts from the township. They shouldn't sugar coat it. Let the people be aware of what is really going on!!   more ›

UPDATE: Two Charged in Valley Green Burglaries

Break-ins in Valley Green subdivision Feb. 2 part of a larger series of break-ins throughout the Lehigh Valley.

Two men were arrested Monday in connection with a string of four Valley Green break-ins on Feb. 2. Justin R. Snyder, 19, of Alburtis and Jonathan D. Covine, 20, of Coplay, were each charged by Upper Saucon police with two counts of burglary, one count of theft by unlawful taking, and two counts of theft from a motor vehicle. District Judge David Harding set bail at $50,000 each in a video arraignment from the Lehigh County prison. According to the arrest affidavit, both Covine and Snyder entered four homes on Feb. 2. Two were in the 3300 block of Bayhill Drive North, and two were in the 3000 block of Muirfield Road, both in Center Valley. The affidavit said: On Feb. 2, they entered a home on Bayhill Drive North at about 6:15 a.m. through …

Nice work by the Lehigh County Task Force and Upper Saucon Police Department for quickly nabbing these two! The news of the break-ins was unsettling in our quiet community. Where are these kids parents?   more ›
