Police Officer Announces Candidacy for District Justice

Southern Lehigh 'lifer' and Bethlehem police officer Scott McEllroy announces run for district justice seat being vacated by David Harding.

Scott McEllroy is announcing his candidacy for the office of District Judge, District Court 31- 3 - 03 serving Upper Saucon Township, Borough of Coopersburg and Lower Milford Township.  Current District Judge David Harding is retiring at the end of his term this year.  According to a press release, McEllroy is a lifelong resident of Southern Lehigh, graduating in 1979 form Southern Lehigh High School. After graduation, McEllroy entered the Air Force Reserves. He received an honorable discharge in 1986.  McEllroy has been with the Bethlehem Police Department for 19 years. He has received six letters of commendation for outstanding service and is currently in the department’s Special Services Unit assigned to the Highway Patrol Unit as a …

Coopersburg Police Chief Announces Bid for District Judge Seat

Police Chief Daniel Trexler announces a run for Magisterial District Judge seat; Judge David Harding retiring this year.

Coopersburg Police Chief Daniel C. Trexler announced his candidacy for Magisterial District Judge in District Court 31-3-03, which serves Upper Saucon Township, Lower Milford Township and Coopersburg. District Judge David B. Harding is set to retire this year. When Trexler heard, he decided he wanted to run for the office.  "I was at a turning point in my career," said Trexler. "I could have [stayed chief] until I retire, but I do care about the town and I can give more." Fellow officers attest to his dedication to the area.
