Windy, dry conditions mean there's an increased risk of wildfires Thursday afternoon and evening.
The Lehigh Valley is at enhanced risk of wildfires through Thursday evening because of windy, dry conditions, according to the National Weather Service. Winds will not be as high as they've been the past few days but low humidity and dry fuel for fires still pose a hazard. Tonight, the Weather Service says there is a slight chance of rain or sleet after 3 a.m. The forecast for Friday is cloudy with a chance of rain and a high in the los 50s.

One to three inches of snow is expected Monday, the National Weather Service says.
Don't put away those snow shovels yet. A spring snowstorm could be on the way Sunday night and Monday. The National Weather Service said an early spring winter storm is expected to arrive Sunday night, bringing 1 to 3 inches of snow Monday. Check back with Patch for updates.

Latest winter storm now looks like it will bring us a few inches of snow on Wednesday, according to National Weather Service.
First, the impending storm was called a potential "atmospheric bomb" that could dump one to feet of snow on eastern Pennsylvania. Now, the storm is having the most significant impact south and west of the Lehigh Valley The National Weather Service has adjusted its winter weather advisory for the Lehigh Valley for 7 a.m. Wednesday to 6 a.m. Thursday. (Advisory was originally scheduled through 3 a.m. Thursday) The advisory area includes Allentown and Upper Bucks County. Highlights include: A Winter Weather Advisory means periods of snow may make travel difficult. Be prepared for slippery roads.

An Accuweather forecaster says we could get buried or dodge a bullet depending on how a winter storm develops next week.
The mid-Atlantic region including the Lehigh Valley is prime territory for a winter storm that could turn into a blizzard —or blow out to sea, according to Accuweather. This potential "atmospheric bomb" is just something to keep an eye on so far. Forecasters say they'll get a better handle on the potential for a major winter storm as the track develops over the weekend. The storm is brewing now in the Pacific and will travel cross country in coming days. A winter storm will make Friday messy in Southern Lehigh but the worst of it will hit New England
The National Weather Service says a winter storm will bring snow, sleet and rain to Southern Lehigh Friday into early Saturday morning. The major impact will be in New England where a nor'easter-type storm could bring blizzard conditions and a foot of snow. Locally, the National Weather Service predicts 6 to 12 inches of snow; WFMZ predicts 3 to 6 inches for the Lehigh Valley. Snow should develop Friday morning, then mix with or change to sleet and rain from southeast to northwest. Snow could be heavy at times later Friday afternoon and Friday night, the Weather Service says. The storm should end early Saturday morning leaving Saturday partly sunny with a high of 33.

A messy mixture of snow, ice and rain is expected Monday along with sub-freezing temperatures in the morning
A winter storm is on the way and it could make for a messy commute to work or school Monday morning, according to weather forecasters. WFMZ says snow will start around sunrise and continue for a few hours before it changes to rain in late morning or early afternoon. The National Weather Service predicts "rain, snow, freezing rain, and sleet before 3 p.m., then rain and freezing rain, possibly mixed with sleet from 3 to 4 p.m., then rain and sleet likely after 4 p.m." We could get about an inch of snow and sleet. Daytime highs will climb into the 40s on Tuesday and 50s on Wednesday but both days will be cloudy and rainy.

There's snow in the forecast along with a big chill that will keep daytime high temperatures from rising out of the 20s for the rest of the week in Southern Lehigh. Wind chill made it feel as cold as -2 Wed. An arctic air mass is bringing the coldest weather so far this season -- perhaps even colder than anything we experienced last winter, according to the National Weather Service. The higest temperature expected this week will be a very nippy 27 degrees on Saturday. There's snow in the forecast for Wednesday, Thursday night and Friday:

The Lehigh Valley is enjoying a January thaw this week with temperatures that will climb from the 40s into the 50s.
The National Weather Service says temperatures will climb into the 50s the next few days, giving us a nice respite from the unseasonably cold weather we had over the holidays. The high could hit 57 by Sunday, although skies will be cloudy over the weekend. Here's the forecast: Thursday: Sunny, with a high near 44. West wind 5 to 8 mph. Friday: A chance of rain after 8am. Cloudy, with a high near 44. Calm wind. Chance of precipitation is 50 percent. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible. Saturday: Partly sunny, with a high near 52. Sunday: Mostly cloudy, with a high near 57.

Snow is the forecast again and we could get a few inches on Saturday.
So far this week, we had a white Christmas and a post-Christmas snow and ice storm that led to a tragic accident on Interstate 78. While today will be sunny, snow is in the forecast again with a few inches or more expected Saturday. The National Weather Service says hazardous travel should develop for much of eastern Pennsylvania Saturday morning as snow begins falling around daybreak or shortly after that. Snowfall could range from 2 to 5 inches ending in the afternoon or evening. Daytime temperatures will hover in the low to mid 30s. Sunday will be mostly sunny with a high of 34.
