Woman Killed in I-78 Crash Identified

The drivers of the three vehicles involved in Sunday's crash also were injured and taken to hospitals, state police at Fogelsville said.

A 53-year-old woman from Stony Brook, N.Y., was killed Sunday in a three-vehicle crash on Interstate 78 east in Upper Saucon, state police at Fogelsville said. Celia Marrero, who was a passenger in a Jeep Cherokee, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Lehigh County coroner. The drivers of the vehicles were injured and taken to hospitals. The extent of their injuries was not immediately known. According to state police, Sohini Dalal, 53, of Sandy Springs, GA., who was driving a Toyota Sienna, was merging into the center lane from the left lane. The car struck the Jeep, driven by Luis Cruz, 18, of Cleona, PA. (Lebanon County), traveling in the center lane. Cruz's vehicle then struck a BMW 535i driven by William Benz, 52, of Milford, N.J…

Gas-Filled FedEx Truck Crashes on I-78 Near 309

FedEx truck filled with 'unidentified gas' crashed around 9:30 p.m. Tuesday.

A FedEx tanker truck filled with a gas crashed on I-78 near the Route 309 exit Tuesday evening.  According to an article in The Morning Call, the tanker was transporting a non-flammable, unidentified gas when the tractor trailer rolled onto its side around 9:30 p.m.  A haz-mat team and ambulance were put on hold after police determined the driver was unharmed and the cargo posed no risk.

Police: I-78 Crash Leaves NY Woman Dead

Linda Rooney, of Goshen, NY, was traveling with her family on I-78 Wednesday morning when she was killed in a collision with several vehicles near the Lehigh Street exit; 8 others injured

A 51-year-old New York woman was killed and eight others were injured in a multiple vehicle crash Wednesday morning on Interstate 78 near the Lehigh Street exit in Allentown, according to state police at Fogelsville. Linda Rooney, of Goshen, N.Y., was pronounced dead at the scene by the Lehigh County Coroner's Office. Rooney and her two children were passengers in a car driven by her husband, Raymond, police said. The collision occurred about 10:30 a.m. when a car driven by Michael Lugo, 19, of Philadelphia pulled into the left lane of travel after fixing a flat tire in the center berm and was struck from behind by the westbound car driven by Raymond Rooney, police said. Three Injured, Including Roadside Pedestrian in I-78 Crash

Crash on I-78 shut down westbound traffic as emergency crews responded to the scene.

A crash that closed I-78 for an hour sent three people to the hospital Wednesday afternoon.  Acording to recent reports, the pedestrian- identified as Ronald L. Dobisesky Jr., 46, of Leesport- was standing on the side of the road next to his stopped car speaking with a driver pulled to the side, possibly to assist.  Three additional cars slowed down, setting off a domino of crashes. Dobisesky was identified as seriously injured as well as two other drivers.
