Prison for Ex-Coopersburg Manager Dawn Kresge

Dawn Kresge will serve prison time after pleading guilty to felony access device fraud last month.

Nodding through tears as Lehigh County Judge James Anthony asked if she understood her sentence, ex-Coopersburg manager Dawn Kresge got jail time for felony access device fraud after charging thousands of dollars on borough credit cards. Kresge, who pleaded guilty last month to felony access device fraud, was sentenced to six months to 23 months in Monroe County Prison. Kresge lives in Monroe, so she is allowed to serve her prison time there. She also was sentenced to 24 months' probation and restitution. She will be allowed work release while in prison. "I want to apologize to borough residents, I did something very wrong," said Kresge when given the chance to speak in court. "I know I broke the residents' trust in me. I will never get it…

Former Coopersburg Manager Admits to Stealing $15,000 from Borough

Former manager Dawn Kresge, 47, pleads to felony charge, could face up to seven years in prison.

Former Coopersburg manager Dawn Kresge pleaded guilty to stealing almost $15,000 from the borough Tuesday afternoon.  According to reports, Kresge admitted guilt to using a borough credit card for personal expenses totaling $14,980. Kresge pleaded to one count of felony access device fraud. She was originally charged with access device fraud, theft by unlawful taking or disposition, and receiving stolen property.  Kresge resigned abruptly as borough manager in February, citing a new job opportunity. She was borough manager from May 2008 to February 2012. Prior to that, Kresge was Coopersburg's police secretary from April 2005 to April 2008.  According to the complaint, the resignation sparked an internal audit. In April, new borough …

Hearing for Ex-Coopersburg Manager Accused of Fraud Continued

Ex-Coopersburg manager Dawn Kresge was expected to plead guilty to charges including fraud and theft; hearing continued to Jan. 22.

Though ex-Coopersburg manager Dawn Kresge was in court Monday and expected to plead guilty to charges of fraud, theft and receiving stolen property, her attorney asked Judge James Anthony for a continuance.  According to court documents, this is the second time Kresge's attorneys have asked to court for a continuance.   Kresge resigned abruptly as borough manager in February 2012, citing a new job opportunity. The resignation sparked an internal audit. In April, Tim Paashaus, the new borough manager and former mayor, uncovered evidence that Kresge allegedly had improperly used borough credit cards. Coopersburg Mayor Hired As Borough Manager

Tim Paashaus will resign from Lafayette Bank and as mayor to take the job as borough manager at $52,000 a year.

Coopersburg Council announced Tuesday it is hiring Mayor Tim Paashaus as the new borough manager at $52,000 a year. Paashaus will resign from both his job at Lafayette Ambassador Bank and as mayor next month. After talking with his wife, Paashaus made the decision to formally apply for the position. “I’ll be taking my skill and ability from managing [at Lafayette Ambassador Bank] and apply them to the borough,” Paashaus said. A selection committee composed of council members Jack Felch, Jon Walters and Linda Minarik reviewed applicants for borough manager after last month's resignation of Dawn Kresge.
