"Scouting for Food," a food drive organized by local Cub and Boy Scout troops, will pick up donations from Southern Lehigh residents on Saturday, Nov. 9.

Empty bags with flyers about the drive were dropped off at homes last week.

On Saturday, the filled bags from residents will be picked up by scouts and taken to Betty Lou's Pantry—a Coopersburg food bank.

Filled bags should be placed in an area where they can be easily seen from the street by 8 a.m.

"This is a very important drive for the pantry that serves 200 families that live in our community," supporter Kathie Parsons said in an email.

"This is an amazing event because Scouts of all ages and their families work together with the pantry, which itself is run by several churches, to help people that live right here," she added.
