The Saucon Rail Trail was one of a number of projects recognized by the Delaware Valley Green Building Council at an awards ceremony held Oct. 17 at Muhlenberg College in Allentown.

Although the rail trail did not win the award in its category—sustainable communities—trail representatives Joe Pampanin and Roger Jurczak were presented with a certificate (pictured).

The Borough of Emmaus received the council's Sustainable Community Award for the implementation of initiatives and policies that promote sustainable living, according to a news release.

Along with Emmaus borough and the Saucon Rail Trail, the other nominee in the sustainable communities category was the Lehigh and Northampton Transportation Authority (LANTA).
