Girl Battling Brain Tumor Will Be Honored at Benefit

Caitlin Dickey, 9, will be the honoree at a Zumbathon benefit for the Pediatric Cancer Foundation of the Lehigh Valley at Southern Lehigh High School Friday.

A local girl battling a brain tumor with a fierce determination will be the honoree at a special dance-themed benefit to be held at Southern Lehigh High School's gymnasium on Friday, May 17.

The Zumbathon honoring Caitlin Dickey will benefit the Pediatric Cancer Foundation of the Lehigh Valley, and will feature the Latin-inspired, calorie-burning exercise for Kids 10 and under (4:30 to 5:30 p.m.) and children over 10/adults (7 to 9 p.m.).

Raffles will also be held as part of the fundraiser.

In spite of her illness, nine-year-old Caitlin is a lot like other little girls her age, in that "she loves butterflies, Tinkerbell and things that come in shades of pink and purple," according to a Patch event listing for the fundraiser. "One day she dreams of of working for NASA and launching into space. Her energy and enthusiasm for life is contagious."

Dickey's birthday is in June, and over the weekend she was honored with an early birthday celebration at a Miracle League of the Lehigh Valley game in Heidelberg Township, according to a WFMZ-TV article.
