Animals in Distress to Hold 'Wag-Walk' at Nockamixon

Animals in Distress, an Upper Saucon Township animal shelter, will sponsor the 'Wag-Walk' Walk-A-Thon at Nockamixon State Park on Saturday, Oct. 19.

Animals in Distress, an Upper Saucon Township no-kill animal sanctuary, will sponsor the 'Wag-Walk' Walk-A-Thon at Nockamixon State Park on Saturday, Oct. 19 (rain date: Sunday, Oct. 20).

Registration for the walk will begin at the marina at 10:30 a.m., with the 2.5-mile walk starting at 11:30 a.m. at the marina, which is off Rt. 563 east of Quakertown.

Registration the day of the event is $15; pre-registration is $10 (mailed registration forms must be postmarked by Oct. 14).

Prizes will be awarded to the top 20 participants in terms of sponsorship money that is raised.

All walk participants who raise $50 or more in pledges will receive a free T-shirt, and participants who raise $100 or more "will have their name put in for a chance at a variety of prizes," according to a pamphlet about the walk.

All proceeds from the event will benefit Animals in Distress.
