Madelyn Binder, a Southern Lehigh Middle School student, competed at The Lendon Gray Dressage Festival in Saugerties, N.Y., last weekend.

Madelyn and her horse, Pick Me A Daisy, ended up coming in second place overall in their age division.

Just three years ago, Pick Me A Daisy was rescued from a meat broker lot by a Pennsylvania group. A local trainer later spotted her at the rescue facility she was taken to and began to train her, before she was purchased by the Binder family.

The Lendon Gray Dressage Festival is an annual event put on by former dressage Olympian Lendon Gray, and draws more than 300 competitors.
