This isn't the first time Southern Lehigh students have been singled out at LCTI. Several students have been named student of the month. In spring 2012, two students were presented the Elmer Gates award by LCTI. The selection criteria for the award include scholastic achievement, participation in SkillsUSA, membership and leadership positions in student organizations and sports, community involvement, and an entrepreneurial spirit that includes a superior work ethic and a positive attitude toward teamwork, quality performance and productivity.
According to Wikipedia, SkillsUSA is an American career and technical student organization serving more than 320,000 high school and college students and professional members enrolled in training programs in technical, skilled and service occupations, including health occupations.
