SLSD Finance Director Receives Professional Recognition

Southern Lehigh School District business services director Jeremy Melber was recently a finalist for Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of the Year (large nonprofits category), in a first-of-its-kind local competition sponsored by Lehigh Valley Business.

Southern Lehigh School District business services director Jeremy Melber was recently a finalist for a prestigious local honor, superintendent Leah Christman announced at Monday's school board meeting.

Christman said Melber was a finalist for Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of the Year (large nonprofits category), in a first-of-its-kind local competition sponsored by Lehigh Valley Business.

The winner in that category was Dan Confalone, senior vice president of finance and CFO at Good Shepherd Rehabilitation Network in Allentown, according to an article about the awards published on the Lehigh Valley Business website.

“The competition was pretty stiff,” Christman said, noting that other finalists in Melber's category included chief financial officers from institutions and organizations such as Muhlenberg College and Easter Seals.

Melber, along with the other finalists and honorees, was recognized at a Sept. 19 awards breakfast at DeSales University in Upper Saucon Township.

“Congratulations, Mr. Melber, for your fine work here at Southern Lehigh," Christman told him.

Melber has held the position of director of business services at Southern Lehigh for the past two years, and prior to that worked in a similar capacity in the Northern Lehigh School District, according to a profile story published in the September 2011 issue of the Southern Lehigh School District newsletter.
