New High School Schedule a Success: Asst. Principal

Southern Lehigh High School assistant principal Mark Covelle said the schedule is being credited with a year-over-year decline in both tardiness and disciplinary rates.

Southern Lehigh High School assistant principal Mark Covelle reported to the school board Monday that the new student schedule known as the "Spartan Period" has been a success so far.

"We continue to hear positive feedback," he said. "We feel it's a really exciting addition to our school day."

Covelle said the schedule is being credited with a year-over-year decline in both tardiness and disciplinary rates.

At the meeting, board members also wished Covelle well at the East Penn School District, where he has accepted a position as an assistant principal at Emmaus High School, according to a Morning Call article.

Board member James Lindsay called Covelle "an asset" to Southern Lehigh and said "good people like this are what make this school district tick the right way."

"We hope to see you back here at Southern Lehigh at some point," added board president Jeffrey Dimmig.
