Police Officer Announces Candidacy for District Justice

Scott McEllroy is announcing his candidacy for the office of District Judge, District Court 31- 3 - 03 serving Upper Saucon Township, Borough of Coopersburg and Lower Milford Township. 

Current District Judge David Harding is retiring at the end of his term this year. 

According to a press release, McEllroy is a lifelong resident of Southern Lehigh, graduating in 1979 form Southern Lehigh High School. After graduation, McEllroy entered the Air Force Reserves. He received an honorable discharge in 1986. 

McEllroy has been with the Bethlehem Police Department for 19 years. He has received six letters of commendation for outstanding service and is currently in the department’s Special Services Unit assigned to the Highway Patrol Unit as a motor officer. McEllroy is also the department’s certified Police Motorcycle Instructor.  

“After a career of assisting citizens and helping to keep the community I serve safe, I feel this is the next step in my life to now help preserve the community in which we live and enjoy,” said McEllroy.

McEllroy and his wife, Michele, settled in Upper Saucon, sending three children through the Southern Lehigh School District. 

In the past few weeks, both Coopersburg constable Mike Zweifel and Coopersburg Police Chief Daniel Trexler announced they are also running for office. All three candidates are cross-filing for the primaries.
