L. Milford Quarry Fight Could Reach Pa. Supreme Court

A years-long fight to prevent Geryville Materials from developing a quarry on land in Lower Milford Township shows no signs of ending soon.

Lower Milford Township residents who oppose the development of a quarry on 85 acres near W. Mill Hill Road were recently handed a legal setback—in the form of an appeals court ruling overturning the Lower Milford planning commission's rejection of the quarry plan—but the township's board of supervisors plans to take the fight to the state supreme court, according to an article in The Morning Call.

Whether or not the court will agree to hear the appeal won't be known for some time, but board of supervisors chairwoman Donna Wright told the newspaper she is confident in the township's ordinances and in its ability to prevail against Geryville Materials if the appeal is ultimately heard, the article indicated.

The Lower Milford Residents Association is a grassroots organization that has been active in opposing the quarry throughout a years-long succession of township meetings and legal proceedings.
