Coopersburg Council to Consider Proposed Zoning Change

The proposed change to the borough's zoning map would reclassify an approximately 3.75-acre tract at 600 S. Main St. and an approximately 23-acre tract at 1101 State St. as being in the new R-4 Zoning District.

According to a public notice recently published in area newspapers, Coopersburg Borough Council will hold a public hearing to consider a proposed ordinance to amend its zoning ordinance and zoning map at its Tuesday, Nov. 19 meeting starting at 7 p.m.

The meeting will be held at Coopersburg Borough Hall, 5 N. Main St.

The proposed ordinance would create a new R-4 Zoning District.

According to the published meeting notice, it includes definitions of age-restricted dwellings and single-family attached dwellings, parking space requirements for each such dwelling unit, permitted uses in the proposed R-4 district, lot area and width requirements, building and impervious surface area limitations, building height limits, and front-, side- and rear-yard requirements.

The proposed change to the borough's zoning map would reclassify an approximately 3.75-acre tract at 600 S. Main St. and an approximately 23-acre tract at 1101 State St. as being in the new R-4 Zoning District.

The former Pinebrook Junior College is at 600 S. Main St., adjacent to the historic Cooper Mansion.

The large tract on State Street is on the borough's western edge, adjacent to Upper Saucon Township properties.

A copy of the proposed ordinance is available for public inspection at Coopersburg Borough Hall during regular business hours.
