Bad Tequila? Liquor Control Board Issues Voluntary Recall

1800 Tequila recalled due to glass fragments.

In an alert to consumers, the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board Friday announced a voluntary product recall for three types of tequila, according to a news release.

Due to "potential glass particles in the bottle," the LCB recalled 1800 Tequila 1.75 Liter Silver, Reposado and Coconut.

"It is believed the percentage of affected bottles is low and there have been no reports of consumer injuries," the LCB said.

Bottles at the  are affected by the recall. 

Parent company Agavera Camichines said 1800 Tequila could have been potentially damaged "during transportation and handling to glass stoppers in the bottle may have caused the presence of small particles of glass that could pose a health risk."

The LCB said customers should compare the Lot Code on the bottle's side to the list below—the first nine digits of the 13-digit Lot Code are what to compare to.

"Customers who have affected product should not consume it nor should they allow others to consume it. Anyone who has consumed tequila from an affected bottle and becomes ill or shows signs of complications should see a physician immediately," the LCB said.

People can return the bottles to a local state store for a refund. The local Wine and Spirits shop is located at the . Consumers may also call Agavera Camichines at 866-795-8805 or via email at info@1800tequila.com.
