U. Saucon Outage Caused by Fatal Tree-Trimming Accident

An Asplundh worker was killed when he accidentally came in contact with a high-voltage power line on Sand Island in Bethlehem over the weekend.

A fatal tree-trimming accident that occurred when an Asplundh contractor working on Sand Island in Bethlehem was electrocuted resulted in a power outage that affected some PPL customers as far away as Upper Saucon Township, the Morning Call reported.

The newspaper article indicated that about 1,000 PPL customers in Bethlehem, Bethlehem Township and Upper Saucon Township temporarily lost service following the Saturday morning accident, which remains under investigation.

The worker was killed when he accidentally came in contact with a high-voltage power line while trimming trees in preparation for Musikfest, according to a WFMZ report cited by Bethlehem Patch.
