Men Stole Hot Dog Warmer From Weis, Police Say

Upper Saucon police say thief used his savings card before stealing device used to give out free hot dogs.

Weis supermarket on Route 309 in Upper Saucon put out a hot dog warmer on Memorial Day and gave free hot dogs to customers.

The hot dog warmer, however, cost $250, which is why Weis called police when two shoppers allegedly drove off with it.

Surveillance footage recorded the theft on May 25 just after the men had finished shopping, township police say.

According to court records, police were able to track one of the men—Jeffrey Torchia, 42, of Saratoga Lane—through his Weis Preferred Shoppers discount card.

Police contacted Torchia, who admitted to the theft, court records say. He named his accomplice as James Aragona, 36, of Remington Drive.

Both men are charged with theft, and are free on bail. The hot dog warmer has been returned to the store.
