Drunken Driver Rear-Ended Bus on Route 378, Police Say

William Sharer, of the 5300 block of Route 309, Upper Saucon Township, has been charged with DUI, reckless driving and leaving the scene of an accident.

Lower Saucon Township Police say an Upper Saucon Township man was charged with DUI, reckless driving and leaving the scene of an accident, after he allegedly rear-ended a bus at Route 378 and Black River Road.

In a news release, police said William Sharer, of the 5300 block of Route 309, fled west on Black River Road following the accident, eventually driving through bushes and becoming stuck in the front yard of a home in the 2200 block of Black River Road.

Police said Sharer was driving a gold Dodge at the time of the June 22 accident, which occurred at about 1:52 a.m.

Sharer was determined to have a blood alcohol content (BAC) of .24 percent, which is three times the legal limit for most drivers in Pennsylvania, police said.
