Driver Unhurt When Car Catches Fire on I-78

Fire hits 2000 Saturn on eastbound side in Upper Saucon, state police say.

A Bethlehem man was able to walk away unhurt after his 2000 Saturn SC2 caught fire Thursday afternoon on eastbound Interstate 78 in Upper Saucon, police said.

David C. Poulin, 23, told police he heard a rattling sound in the Saturn's engine. He pulled over to the left shoulder, got out and saw smoke and flames under the car, a state police fax says. He was able to get away without being hurt.

The incident occurred around 4pm at mile marker 61.4. Upper Saucon fire crews put out the blaze. The Saturn was towed by Sacks Towing.
