Coopersburg Woman Charged With DUI, Buys More Alcohol

Linda Colosimo, after driving into a curb, was found in her vehicle with two bottles of wine in the passenger seat, police say.

A Coopersburg woman was charged with DUI and careless driving after striking a curb with her vehicle, leaving it parked to purchase two
bottles of alcohol at Wine & Spirits in the in Upper Saucon Township, according to a criminal complaint.

Linda Colosimo, 62, was found inside her vehicle. She appeared unresponsive when a witness attempted to wake her, the complaint says. Moments later, she awoke and attempted to drive her vehicle, striking a curb after pulling out. She then allegedly parked and entered Wine & Spirits.

Upper Saucon Township police, responding to a call of a possible drunken driver, say they found Colosimo in her vehicle, engine running and keys in the ignition, with two bottles of wine in her passenger seat. Colosimo, eyes glassy and bloodshot, talked slowly and slurred her words when approached by police officers on June 6, they reported.

Colosimo had a difficult time standing and failed field sobriety tests, telling officers she drank a few glasses of wine while eating lunch with a friend. The witness and officers both noted a strong smell of alcohol coming from her vehicle and person, court papers state.

Colosimo was charged with two counts of driving under the influence (blood alcohol above .16 percent) and careless driving. Her exact blood-alcohol content was not mentioned (the state's legal limit is 0.08 percent).
