Coopersburg Accepting Donations for Family Displaced by Fire

A fire last Saturday left a family of five living in a hotel, so Coopersburg Fire Company is stepping in to help.

Less than a week after a fire in Coopersburg displaced an entire family, the Coopersburg Fire Department is organizing donations for the family to get back on their feet.

According to Coopersburg Fire Department spokesman Kevin Farnish, donations of restaurant gift certificates and gift cards would be especially helpful.

The Coopersburg family, reported to be two adults and three children, are currently living in an area hotel, which is why restaurant gift certificates would be an ideal donation, Farnish said.

"This family has nowhere to store food and donations. [Gift cards] are a great way to help take the increased financial burden off the family. They have to eat three meals out every day."

The fire in Coopersburg comes only a week after a fire in Emmaus displaced another family and sent an 11-year-old girl to the hospital.

Residents who want to help out can drop donation cards at Coopesrburg Borough Hall during normal business hours.

No cause has been determined for the fire, which damaged the home at 329 E. Station Ave.
