Robert O. Shup, 88, of Coopersburg, died Sunday, Dec. 15, 2013 at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township. He was the husband of Edna M. (Bealer) Shup. He was born in Center Valley on March 27, 1925 to the late Oliver and Bertha (Croman) Shup. Robert was an annealer at Bethlehem Steel for 20 years until retiring in 1987. Previously he worked at Penn and JD Furniture as an upholsterer for 19 years. He was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ, Pleasant Valley, a member of the Upper Saucon Volunteer Fire Company and a life member of the Coopersburg Volunteer Fire Company.
In addition to his loving wife of 62 years; daughter: Karen I. (Gregory) Smith of Coopersburg; sister: Dorothy Gower of Upper Nazareth Township; grandchildren: Jeffrey and Bryan Smith. He was predeceased by siblings: Gertrude, Ida, Laura, Melba and Paul.
Family and friends are invited to call from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 20, 2013 and from 11:30 a.m. to noon Saturday at the Heintzelman Funeral Home Inc., 326 Main St., Hellertown. The calling hour Saturday will be followed by the service at noon. The interment will conclude services at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Springfield Township.
