James J. Hofstetter, 81, Life Member of U. Saucon Social Quarters [Obituary]

James J. Hofstetter, 81, of Friedensville, passed away in his home on Dec. 5, 2013.

James J. Hofstetter, 81, of Friedensville, passed away in his home on Dec. 5, 2013. Born in Limeport, he was the son of the late John and Anna (Marusic) Hofstetter and he was the husband of the late Shirley V. (Hockman) Hofstetter. James was employed as a maintenance man at Lehigh Valley Hospital on Cedar Crest Boulevard for 39 years until retiring this year. He owned and trained beagles. He was a lifelong farmer and gardener, an avid hunter and fisherman, and a recent beekeeper. James was a life member of Upper Saucon Social Quarters, Coopersburg Fire Co. Social Quarters, Ridge Valley Rod & Gun Club and the Spring Valley Sportsmen’s Club. He was a member of Assumption BVM Catholic Church, Colesville.

SURVIVORS: Children, Melody Ann Bernd and her husband Bruce, Patricia Ann Mills and her husband Donald, Cynthia Ann Shelly and her husband Alan, James Hofstetter Jr. and his wife Kendra, AnnaMarie Ann DeLong and her husband Gary; 13 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren. James was predeceased by a grandson, Jared Bernd, and a great-grandson, Elijah Shelly. He was the last of 11 children.

SERVICES: Services were held Monday, Dec. 9 at Bachman, Kulik & Reinsmith Funeral Home, 225 Elm St., Emmaus. A Mass of Christian Burial was held in the church, 4101 Old Bethlehem Pike, Bethlehem, PA. Interment was at Calvary Cemetery, Limeport.
