Carl 'Collie' Adam Ankele, 77, Worked at Steel for 37 Years

Carl 'Collie' Adam Ankele, 77, of Center Valley, died Saturday, Oct. 26, 2013 at his residence.

Carl "Collie" Adam Ankele, 77, of Center Valley, died Saturday, Oct. 26, 2013 at his residence. He was the husband of Geraldine M. (Nagy), with whom he celebrated 53 years of marriage. Carl was born in Bedminster on July 4, 1936 to the late Jacob and Mina (Schenk). He served our country faithfully in the U.S. Army during peacetime. Carl worked in the machine shop #12 for the Bethlehem Steel Corp./Centec for 37 years, retiring in 1992. He was a life member of the Beethoven Waldheim, Ridge & Valley Rod & Gun, Se-Wy-Co Fire Company Social Club and Spring Valley Sportsmen's Club. He also belonged to the Coopersburg Fire Company, Silver Creek and Loyal Order of the Moose social clubs. Carl also participated in the United Steel Workers Organization of Active Retirees.

SURVIVORS

In addition to his wife, daughters: Denise C. Higdon and her husband Philip III of Charleston, S.C., and Michele R. Ankele of Center Valley; sister: Rose Rosenberger of White Haven; grandchildren: Krystal, George, Philip IV and Patrick. Carl was predeceased by a sister: Margaret Grim; and brothers: Jacob Jr. and Albert.

SERVICE

Family and friends are invited to call from 10 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 2, 2013. The calling hour will be followed by the service at 11 a.m. at the Heintzelman Funeral Home Inc., 326 Main St., Hellertown. The interment with military honors will conclude services at Union Cemetery of Hellertown. Online expressions of sympathy can be recorded at www.heintzelmancares.com.
