Dedication of Garden of Heroes to Honor Animals who have risked their lives to save others

All are welcome to attend this ceremony dedicating a Garden of Heroes to honor those animals and humans who have risked their lives, and often lost them, to protect our country and our community.

The date chosen is Armed Forces Day, when we remember how many have served to protect our way of life.

Members of the military, police K-9 units, search and rescue personnel, arson detectives, explosive and drug sniffing dog handlers...all such people are welcome to attend, with their animal companions if still alive. Or in memory of their service animals if they are deceased.

All interested parties are invited to this memorable event that reminds all of us that we owe a debt we can never re-pay.

The Garden was created without any tax dollars and is a product of donations and volunteer efforts by many dedicated people.

The Garden of Heroes is located in a remote area of the 42-acre Animals in Distress shelter and sanctuary, right next to Wedgewood Golf Course.

Those interested in participating in the ceremony itself, perhaps to speak on behalf of their service animal companion, are encouraged to contact the shelter via email at aidpa@enter.net.
