Upper Saucon Attorney Named Chairman of Regional Blood Center

Joseph A. Bubba, Managing Shareholder of Fitzpatrick Lentz & Bubba, P.C., has been named Chairman of Miller-Keystone Blood Center.

Joseph A. Bubba, Managing Shareholder of Fitzpatrick Lentz & Bubba, P.C., has been named Chairman of Miller-Keystone Blood Center.

Established in 1971, Miller-Keystone Blood Center is an independent, not-for-profit, 501(c)(3) community organization that serves as the only blood provider to 27 hospitals in Berks, Bucks, Carbon,  Chester, Lehigh, Luzerne, Montgomery, Northampton, Philadelphia and Schuylkill (PA), and Hunterdon and Warren (NJ) counties. Only blood donated through MKBC is transfused at these facilities.

Mr. Bubba is one of the firm’s founding members. He serves as Managing Partner and Chair of the Healthcare Group. In his healthcare practice, Mr. Bubba concentrates on physician-hospital relationships, physician practices and medical staff matters. He represents hospitals, medical staffs, ambulatory surgical centers and other healthcare clients. He acts as counsel for physicians and hospitals engaged in the fair hearing and internal review process. He has also served as a hearing officer throughout the region. Mr. Bubba is also a commercial/healthcare arbitrator for the American Arbitration Association (AAA) and the American Health Lawyers Association (AHLA). Mr. Bubba also has an extensive corporate and business practice. He has focused his corporate work on significant land transactions, mergers & acquisitions and shareholder succession and disputes. He is a frequent speaker for the Pennsylvania Bar Institute and other organizations.

Edward Hoffman Jr. Elected President of North Penn Legal Services

Edward Hoffman Jr., an attorney in the Litigation Group of Fitzpatrick Lentz & Bubba, P.C., was elected President of the Board of Directors of North Penn Legal Services (NPLS). NPLS provides free legal aid services on civil cases to low-income families, individuals and groups in northeastern Pennsylvania every day. Services include individual representation (ranging from document preparation to litigation), information, referral and advice through a telephone helpline, community legal education, and support for those clients who will be taking responsibility for handling some or all aspects of their own issue. The organization handled 12,000 cases last year. 

Mr. Hoffman’s practice includes community association law, community association litigation, multi-family housing/fair housing, landlord-tenant law and landlord-tenant litigation. He also practices in the areas of commercial and construction litigation, personal injury litigation, premises liability and frequently speaks and publishes on the topics of social media/social networking law and cyber-security/cyber-liability.

Emil Kantra Named President of Haven House Board

Emil W. Kantra II, Chair of the Family Law Group and a Shareholder of Fitzpatrick Lentz & Bubba, P.C., has been named President of the Board of Directors of Haven House in Allentown. Haven House offers outpatient psychiatric services including evaluation, counseling, medication management, rehabilitation and referrals within the Lehigh Valley. Services include an Outpatient Clinic which offers therapy, medication management and psychiatric evaluations; psychiatric rehabilitation, skill teaching in a day setting; and mobile psychiatric rehabilitation, skill teaching in the community.

Mr. Kantra’s practice includes family law, including divorce, custody, support, prenuptial agreement and co-habitation agreement. In addition, he is a member of the Firm’s Real Estate, Land Use and Development group, concentrating on obtaining and defending municipal and outside agency approvals such as DEP and PennDOT, Real Estate Assessment Appeals, Eminent Domain and real estate litigation, including partition actions and easement-related litigation.
