Southern Lehigh Area Digs Out from Tuesday's Snow

In spite of the heavy snow base now on the ground, the chances of a white Christmas in the Southern Lehigh area appear to be low.

With the countdown till Christmas in overdrive, residents and business owners in the Southern Lehigh area are continuing to dig out from the third significant snowfall of what has so far been a very wintry December.

About three inches of light, fluffy snow fell on Upper Saucon Township, Lower Milford Township and Coopersburg Tuesday, prompting the closure of Southern Lehigh schools and the cancellation or postponement of numerous events and activities throughout the region.

Schools reopened Wednesday, with a two-hour delay at the start of the day.

In spite of the heavy snow base now on the ground, the chances of a white Christmas in the Southern Lehigh area appear to be low.

A drastic warm-up with highs in the 50s and 60s (and rain) is predicted for this weekend—which is the last full weekend before Christmas.

Photos: Roads, sidewalks and parking lots in the Coopersburg area were generally clear but remained icy in spots on Tuesday evening, after several inches of snow fell earlier in the day.
