Saucon Rail Trail Open to Coopersburg

The final leg of the Saucon Rail Trail's Phase II extension in Upper Saucon Township opened Thursday. Trail users can now walk or bike all the way from Hellertown to Southern Lehigh Living Memorial Park in Coopersburg.

Upper Saucon Township announced Thursday that the Phase II extension of the Saucon Rail Trail in the township is now open to the Coopersburg borough line at Southern Lehigh Living Memorial Park.

The northernmost leg of the Phase II extension, to Passer Road, opened last month.

"Trail users may now use the entire 8-mile trail from Hellertown Borough to Coopersburg Borough," the township said in a news release.

Access to the trail is available at a number of trailheads, including: 

  • Water Street Park and Grist Mill Park in Hellertown Borough
  • Reading Drive Trailhead in Lower Saucon Township (off Bingen Road)
  • Upper Saucon Township Community Park (on Preston Lane) and Station Avenue Trailhead in Upper Saucon Township
  • Southern Lehigh Living Memorial Park in Coopersburg Borough (Landis Street entrance)
