Join Lower Milford in Welcoming Spring

Lower Milford Township will combine its annual Clean-up Day with its first-ever 'Spring Fling' on April 27 at the Township Building.

This year, Lower Milford Township is launching a brand new community event to help welcome spring in the form of what the LMT Recreation and Open Space Board has dubbed the "Spring Fling."

A unique combination of activities that will include a kite building workshop/demonstration, a lacrosse exhibition and a bake sale, the Spring Fling is scheduled for April 27 and will follow the township's annual Clean-up Day, set to begin at 8 that morning.

Every year, dedicated volunteers gather in Lower Milford Township to collect litter from township roads, helping to help keep trash out of streams and waterways. As in past years, Lower Milford will provide trash bags and safety vests.

Then, at about noon, there will be free grilled hot dogs and beverages for all the cleanup volunteers.

But, the day’s fun doesn’t stop there, according to a press release from Lower Milford Township.

Starting at about 12:30 p.m., residents will be treated to an afternoon of kite making, kite flying, kite demonstrations and a lacrosse exhibition.

Clifford Quinn, Master Kite Builder and member of the American Kite Association, will assist children of all ages with building, decorating and flying their own original kites. The free kite workshop is open to all and will be from 12:30 to 2 p.m. Materials will be provided by Lower Milford Township and Clifford Quinn.

The kite workshop will be held at the Township Community Park, which is directly behind the Lower Milford Township Building, 7607 Chestnut Hill Church Road.

Kite building/decorating activities will take place rain or shine.

After the kite flying activities, there will be a lacrosse exhibition by a local youth travel team in the park from 2 to 3 p.m.

Those who get the munchies during the afternoon will be able to satisfy their sweet tooth at a bake sale sponsored by the Lower Milford Residents Association. All proceeds from the bake sale will be donated to the township to be used for future park development.
