Prepare: Hurricane Sandy, 'Frankenstorm' Advice from the Twitterverse

Agencies, utilities, other services taking to social media to give residents advice on preparing for the coming storm.

PPL and various emergency organizations have been taking to Twitter to give residents tips about preparing for Hurricane Sandy, which could affect Southern Lehigh Sunday through Tuesday.

It now looks like Hurricane Sandy could hit Eastern PA hard on Sunday and the storm, combined with early winter weather to the west and cold air coming from the north, could create what forecasters are now calling a “Frankenstorm.”

“It is likely to hit during a full moon when tides are near their highest, increasing coastal flooding potential, NOAA forecasts warn. And with some trees still leafy and the potential for snow, power outages could last to Election Day, some meteorologists fear,” the Associated Press has reported.
