DeSales hosts Lehigh Valley Women's Summit
Keynote speaker Lynne Abraham is the first female District Attorney for Philadelphia
Today, will host the Annual Lehigh Valley Women's Summit. The event is described as a fabulous opportunity to spend the day with the Valley's most influential women in business, philanthropy, government, education, healthcare and the arts.
The Summit is sponsored by The Greater Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce's Women Business Council and the Women's Leadership Initiative of the United Way of the Greater Lehigh Valley.
Tickets are $79 for Greater Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce and Women’s Leadership Initiative members and $129 for nonmembers.

Today's event begins with registration and breakfast from 8:30 until 9am. The opening address will be given by Lynne Abraham, the first woman to serve as Philadelphia’s district attorney. A breakout session will begin afterwards around 10:15am followed by a chocolate and coffee break from 11 until 11:30am. Other breakout sessions will follow with the third concluding around 1:15pm.
A stylish luncheon will be enjoyed by all who attend from 1:30 until 2:30pm after which the keynote presentation by Dr. Debbie Salas-Lopez from the Department of Medicine at Lehigh Valley Hospital and Health Network is scheduled to begin.

A networking reception will close out the day’s events ending around 3:45pm.
Also speaking at the event will be panelists Frances Hesselbein, CEO of Leader to Leader Institute; Susan Yee, of Active Data Exchange; and Sally Ullman, of Sally Ullman Photography.
The event offers a wonderful opportunity for area businesswomen to meet, and offer each other support as well as guidance.
When asked about women owned businesses in the Lehigh Valley, Danielle Joseph, vice president, Mission Councils of the Greater Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce commented, “I have not been able to get my hands on number of women owned businesses in the LV, but state-wide statistics are available. Especially with the downturn in the economy a few years ago, the number of women owned businesses was definitely on the rise.”
What does Joseph hope those who attend get out of the event? “Through the summit, we hope that women will aspire to continue to build partnerships with one another so that they can continue to thrive in the workplace, government and our communities.”
