Simmons to Host Arthritis Seminar in Coopersburg
In an effort to better inform the public about arthritis and its available treatments, Rep. Justin Simmons (R-Lehigh/Northampton) is hosting a seminar about the disease on Thursday, April 24, in Coopersburg. The “All about Arthritis” event, which is free and open to the public, will be held at Coopersburg Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3405, 211 E. Fairmount St., starting at 6 p.m.
“Arthritis is not a disease of old age. It can affect anyone,” said Simmons. “According to the National Arthritis Foundation, more than two-thirds of the nation’s arthritis patients are under the age of 65, including 300,000 children. I encourage anyone with the condition, or a family member with arthritis, to attend our workshop to learn more about this debilitating disease.”
Simmons has invited two arthritis experts to lead the discussion. Dr. Susan S. Kim is a staff member with Lehigh Valley Health Network. Kim specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of arthritis and rheumatology as well as diseases of the joints, muscles, bones and tendons. Corissa Rolón, M.A., is the director of the United Way of the Greater Lehigh Valley’s Older Adults and Basic Needs Investments Program.
