Charlie,
Now that you are attempting to be middle of the road and obtain support from all sides you are going to lose the constituency that originally supported you. You will now need to worry about being defeated by opponents on both the left and the right.  Being in the middle of the road gets one run over.  Take a lesson from Justin Simmons and what's her name...his former opponent, whose name now escapes me.
