State Rep. Justin Simmons is hosting a financial aid seminar in an effort to supply college-bound students and their parents with the information they need to apply for state grants and loans. Representatives from the Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency (PHEAA) and the Pennsylvania Treasury Department are scheduled to make presentations and be available to answer questions.
The seminar will take place on Thursday, Oct. 4, from 6 - 8 p.m., at the Southern Lehigh Public Library, 3200 Preston Lane, in Center Valley. Light refreshments will be served at the event, which is free of charge.
“I am excited to be able to host this seminar and encourage students and parents living in the 131st District to attend,” said Simmons. “Applying for state grants and loans can sometimes be a confusing process, but the experts we’ve invited will be able to provide assistance in filling out the necessary forms. Higher education is expensive and families need all the help we can give them in securing financial aid.”
To get started, families are encouraged to access PHEAA’s annual Student Aid Guide, which is now available online, under the “College Planning” section at PHEAA.org. The guide is a comprehensive resource about the financial aid process with in-depth information on Pennsylvania’s student assistance programs.
