Tell Us: Is Dog Poop a Problem on the Rail Trail?
Hellertown Borough Council heard from residents about puppy piles on the trail. Does the Upper Saucon portion have similar issues?
On Jan. 7, Hellertown resident Lee Weidner told Hellertown Borough Council he'd like it to investigate an unsightly and unsanitary problem--excessive dog poop on a section of the Saucon Rail Trail.
Hellertown Borough Council is now investigating the possibility of adding waste bags and signs on the Lower Saucon/Hellertown section of the trail.
Upper Saucon Patch wants to know, is this a trail-wide issue? Have you seen "puppy piles" on the Upper Saucon Rail Trail? Should there be stricter rail trail enforcement for dog owners? Tell us in the comments!

Upper Saucon provides plastic bags along the way. Dog walkers should take one at the beginning of the walk so they are ready if the need for one happens.

Forget the Trail, I see piles along the paths in the UST Park. I see more when the fields are closed for use. Less eyes, less clean up I guess they figure.

I was walking a dog for someone on the beach at Palm Beach, FL, when the dog made a mess. With no plastic bag to pick anything up I tried to pretend nothing happend and just casually bury the stuff...some lady saw what happened and went crazy. I thought I was going to go to jail. Never again!!!!!
