Easton High School was the setting for the 15th annual Easton Cheerleading Challenge Cheer competition, where an energetic Southern Lehigh squad scored a second-place finish on Sunday.
Twenty five teams ranging from flag football-age to senior high strutted their stuff at the Easton High School Gymnasium before an excited standing-room-only crowd of family and fans. The three UCA (Universal Cheerleading Association) judges, including Tiara Foster, Kimmy Sweet, and Jill Anderson brought a combined 17 years of experience to the competition.
The Southern Lehigh team, competing in the "Large Varsity" class, performed a routine that featured well-timed acrobatics and spirited cheering. The routine apparently also impressed the judges, who awarded the squad a score of 198.5 points, enough to take home a second-place trophy. The Southern Lehigh squad is coached by Colleen Naig along with Assistant Coach Kara Kernick
The event also included exhibition performances from the Easton and Wilson squads.
