Southern Lehigh School Board Approves New Hirings, Resignations

The Southern Lehigh School Board approved the following hirings and resignations during its Nov. 12 meeting.

 

The Southern Lehigh School Board made the following personnel changes at Monday's meeting:

Hirings:

--Nicole Belick, Long-Term Substitute Family Consumer Science Teacher, Southern Lehigh Middle School, filling the position during the absence of Anne Snell.

--Kari Bennett, STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics) teacher, Joseph P. Liberati Intermediate School, at Bachelor's, Step 14, an annual salary of $45,570 (pro-rated), with an effective date to be determined. Bennett will fill the position due to resignation of Scott Killino.

--Meghan McGlone, hired as a day-to-day Elementary Education substitute teacher at substitute rate

--Kristen Deitrick, Substitute Cafeteria Worker at an hourly rate of $9.06

--Kristen Deitrick, Substitute Cafeteria/Playground Monitor, at an hourly rate of $9.45. 

--Meghan McGlone, Substitute Instructional Assistant, at an hourly rate of $15.31.

--Judith Browne, Long-Term Substitute RtII Instructional Assistant, Joseph P. Liberati Intermediate School, at an hourly rate of $17.12, filling the position due to the reassignment of Melinda Watkins. Effective Nov. 13, 2012.

--Meghan McGlone, Long-Term Substitute RtII Instructional Assistant (3 hour), Joseph P. Liberati Intermediate School, at an hourly rate of $17.12, filling the position due to the reassignment of Judith Browne. Effective Nov. 13, 2012

--Jeffrey Hershey, as mentor for Stephanie Lynn, at a stipend of $700 for the 2012-2013 school year

 --Lynn Yocum, as mentor for Nicole Belick, at a stipend of $700 for the 2012-2013 school year

--Matthew Fries (pending receipt of required documentation) as Speech and Debate Judge for the 2012-2013 school year, at $63.99 per event. 

--Sarah Oswald, MS Head Basketball-Girls, $3,817.

--Caitlyn Rockel, MS Asst. Basketball-Girls, $2,545

Resignations:

--William Neal, Instructional Assistant, Southern Lehigh High School, effective Nov. 2, 2012.

It's hilarious.... if you ask one teacher to help out another new teacher, you have to pay the teacher $700 to do it. Typical union vermin... have to pay them to lift a finger. "It's all about the kids !!"

As a professional, I've mentored several young professionals and several other non-professional but highly skilled workers. I never expected, nor did I receive extra pay for that. It's just something you do to pass on the wisdom.

@Crestor perhaps you should become a day to day substitute and see what it is like. You know walk in the shoes of another for the day. My guess based upon your prior writings you believe you have the abilities. So step up and show us what teaching is all about. Let us know what grade you end up at so we can evaluate your performance.
