The Sands Casino Resort Bethlehem received approval Tuesday to add 31 new table games, giving it the most table games of any casino in the state, according to a story in The Express-Times.
The Sands Casino would expand its gaming floor by 2,600 square feet and move 837 slot machines to make way for the extra table games, according to the story. When the renovations are done, the Sands will have 183 table games.
The new games will mean 107 new jobs, a Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board spokesman told the newspaper.
With that, Northampton Community College has already announced a new information session for its Casino Training Program.
The session will be held Tuesday, Dec. 4, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in Room 605 of the Fowler Family SouthSide Center.
Attendees can learn about the industry and NCC’s program from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. and then interact with instructors and current students in the mock casino over blackjack, craps and baccarat.
Several table games dealer training sessions are available, including day, afternoon, evening and weekend programs for both incoming students and experienced dealers.
Classes begin on Jan. 14. For more information, call NCC Hospitality & Tourism at 610-332-6580, or go to www.northampton.edu/casino.
