Bear Creek Motorcycle Accident Victim Succumbs to Injuries

Sharon Luma and her husband were ejected from their motorcycle after being hit by a car on Saturday evening near Bear Creek.

Sharon Luma, 46, Towamencin Township's executive secretary, has died from injuries suffered during a two-vehicle accident Saturday evening in Longswamp Township.

The accident happened just as Southern Lehigh students were making their way to prom festivities at Bear Creek Resort.

According to the Lehigh County coroner's report Tuesday, Luma was pronounced dead at 3:40 p.m. May 14 by Dr. Rona Altares at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest.

Her husband, Timothy, remains in critical condition at Lehigh Valley Hospital.

According to the article, the Lumas were wearing helmets and eye protection when they were ejected from their motorcycle after it was hit by 20-year-old Alexa Nisiotis of Macungie.

Does "pre-prom" bear enough relevance to this accident to merit a spot in the header?

Hi, @Suzy. Thanks for asking! I changed the header to reflect the context in which people were referring to the accident locally. I was getting emails requesting information, and this was the main point of referral. Hope that helps!

I agree with Suzy...the victim is a very good friend of mine....and my daughter goes to Southern Lehigh and was on her way to prom....but the 2 are totally unrelated...and feel "pre prom" is used as an adjective to motorcycle accident...making it seem someone from prom was involved. Which many of us were praying for hours that evening hoping was not the case.

Hi @Sue,

Thanks for posting. I am very sorry for your loss. I really do take the sensitivity of the situation into account when deciding what to post, and will continue to try to bring information to the Southern Lehigh community in the most relevant manner possible. I am sorry that the header has offended some readers, and will rethink the inclusion moving forward. Even editors need editors sometimes.

Thank you Elizabeth for the modification....no harm done....I understand where you were coming from...just feel such a tragic event should not be connected to such a joyful one...since there really was no connection except a few orange traffic cones.
