Petition Labeling Church a Hate Group Collects 90K Names So Far
The Westboro Baptist Church church, known for protesting funerals of soldiers, is only a hate group under the Southern Poverty Law Center.

In response Westboro Baptist Church's threat to picket the funerals of the children and teachers who died at the Connecticut elementary school, a petition formed online to legally name the church a hate group.
This group has been recognized as a hate group by organizations, such as The Southern Poverty Law Center, and has repeatedly displayed the actions typical of hate groups.
Their actions have been directed at many groups, including homosexuals, military, Jewish people and even other Christians. They pose a threat to the welfare and treatment of others and will not improve without some form of imposed regulation.
To get an official response from the President, a petition must garner 25,000 signatures in 30 days. The petition garnered 90,000 signatures in three days.

Yes. Since they are a 'closed' group made up of only members of the Phelps family, and have no 'Mission statement' other than to be disruptive......I say not only are they a hate group, they are defrauding the government, as this shill church is used as a tax haven for all the 'lawyers' in the family.......what is their income? do they support missions? What they do cannot in anyway be called 'evangelism' as even if for some reason someone decided 'hey, I like what they have to say I wanna join them' they could not as 'membership' is not allowed to anyone other than Phelps little incestuous colony.
