As candidate announcements continue for the position of Coopersburg District Magistrate, the Southern Lehigh School Board race has its first candidate.
Southern Lehigh Public Library worker Kathie Parsons announced late Tuesday her intention to run for a school board seat.
Four seats --those currently held by Dr. Thomas McLoughlin, Bill Hayes, Dorothy Mohr and Dr. Elizabeth Stelts-- are up this election.
Parsons currently works at the Southern Lehigh Public Library as the patron database manager and circulation desk clerk.
According to a press release, Parsons has been a resident of Southern Lehigh for the past 15 years. Parsons served several volunteer positions, including PTA president at Lower Milford Elementary, president of Southern Lehigh Music Parents, volunteer with both the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts, and several school district committees. Parsons currently serves on the School District’s Act 48 committee.
Parsons will be cross-filed in the primaries, to be held May 21.

Kathie is the real deal. A long-time education advocate with a real understanding of the issues. She is fair and frugal and will put her heart and soul into doing a good job for all Southern Lehigh students. Good Luck Kathie!
