I-78 East in Upper/Lower Saucon Township Reopened After Fatal Car Accident
An accident between the routes 309 and 412 exits now clear.
Eastbound lanes of traffic on I-78 in Upper and Lower Saucon Township have been reopened following a fatal accident not far from the Route 412 exit this morning, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation announced at 12:15pm.
The accident reportedly occurred near mile marker 64, between the Route 309 and Route 412 exits. The route falls within Upper Saucon Township boundaries. WFMZ is reporting that two vehicles collided head on.
A PennDOT live traffic camera shows westbound traffic crawling by the accident scene, at which a myriad of flashing lights are visible.
Motorists should avoid the area and use alternate routes, such as Route 22, until the accident is cleared.
