Coopersburg Teen Sentenced to State Prison for Drunk Driving
19-year-old Edward Ryan Moyer sentenced to 12 to 24 months in state prison for two Aug. 27 accidents.
Edward R. Moyer, 19, of Coopersburg was sentenced Monday for two Bethlehem accidents on Aug. 2, 2011.
According to an article on Lehigh Valley Live, police responded to two calls on Aug. 27 within blocks of each other. Moyer had "blown through" a Bethlehem intersection, hitting a car before traveling four additional blocks and causing a second accident. Upon arrival, police found Moyer being held by a bystander at the second accident.
Citing Moyer's juvenile record, Northampton County Judge Paula Roscioli sentenced the teen to state prison for a term of 12 to 24 months. Roscioli also fined Moyer $4,000 and gave him credit for time served.
According to a Morning Call article, Moyer pleaded guilty to aggravated assault while driving drunk, drunk driving, and two counts of accidents involving injury. His blood-alcohol level at the time of the accident was 0.14, almost twice the legal limit of 0.08. Moyer admitted to drinking eight shots of rum before leaving a party earlier that evening.
