At the end of the competition, Price came in fourth overall. However, the panel of judges decided that McKayla Maroney (seventh overall) would take a spot on the Olympic team. Several commentators speculated that chosing Maroney was in part because of her strong showing on the vault.

When news came out that Price didn't make the Olympic team, the Twitter feed erupted with people angry over the decision.
